Decorating Tips for Tiny Bathrooms
A bathroom is primarily a functional space, with even the largest leaving relatively little room for decorative considerations. If you have a tiny bathroom, there will be absolutely no room for décor, which can leave the space looking a little bland. However if you are willing to think outside of the bath, and use a little creativity, you will start to see all sorts of ways that you can add personal points of interest to various spots around the room.
The first thing you should consider is the look of the various items which have to be there for functional use. This includes soap dispensers, soap trays, toothbrush holders, towel racks, and the various other utensils necessary in a bathroom. One really easy way to pull together a decorative look is to get all of these items in matched colors and or finishes.
Towels, wash clothes, and other linens will also make up a considerable portion of the rooms appearance. Purchase these in matched or contrasted tones, or get wild with patterns, images, and designs. Coordinate these colors with the other functional accessories and you will be able to start decorating the room without taking up any additional space.
The floor is another place where you can add personal touches without hurting functionality. Rugs, carpets, or mats serve the dual purpose of keeping your feat warm, and allowing you to add color or design to the space. You can also purchase traction mats for the bathtub which can be quite stylish and will improve the safety of the space.
The walls of a bathroom will be the place where you get to be frivolous, and hang decorative pieces that won’t serve any function except to inspire you in the morning. These can be art prints, decorative signs, or interesting hanging crafts. Be sure that any prints are encased in a glass frame to protect them from splashes, and never put up bare posters, as the moisture in the room will warp them.
If this isn’t enough room to get creative there are a few design elements that you can change which are relatively simple and inexpensive. For one thing, many manufacturers produce standard bathroom fixtures on tinier than average scales. There are water saving commodes which do not have the large tank behind them, as well as a variety of smaller pedestal and corner sinks available.
Another option is to invest in a set of sliding doors for the entranceway. These pocket doors open sideways, which eliminates the feeling of the door crowing out the space and dividing it in half when opened. These sideways doors can also be purchased for the shower enclosure.
The color of the room itself will also have an effect on the perceived size of the space. In general, darker colors will tend to fall in on the room, making it feel cramped and claustrophobic. On the other hand lighter, airier colors will open the bathroom up and make it seem like the walls are receding from you. Contrasting dark bolding with light colored walls can increase this illusion by developing the appearance of shadows in the space.
Just because your bathroom is a little tiny doesn’t mean that it can’t look fabulous. All you have to do is use some imagination, and a few visual tricks, and you will be able to take the tiny right out of your bathroom, leaving it to feel larger and more comfortable than ever before.

Protect your Children from Hidden Dangers in the Kitchen
When most of us think of kitchen safety, we think of basic things like not allowing children to touch hot stoves. Another common (and helpful) safety tip is to keep pan handles turned toward the back of the stove to keep a child from pulling the pan off the stove and spilling the contents on himself or herself.
These are some of the common dangers that can be found in the kitchen. Unfortunately, though, there are many more hazards that most people just don’t consider – until it’s too late.
Partially open doors or drawers can be very dangerous. Toddlers may explore what’s inside, and find some very interesting (and potentially deadly) treats such as drain opener, cleaning fluids, bleach, or ammonia. Alternatively, they may try to use open drawers as stepstools or stepladders to climb onto the counters and find even more hazardous objects.
Children can use loose electricity cords to pull small appliances down on top of their heads, and may easily get severely cut from can openers or electric knives. If the child is climbing up to the counter top, however, he or she could also potentially slip and fall. If his or her head or neck becomes caught in the cord, these cords can easily act as a noose, causing unexpected tragedy.
Magicians are a source of great wonder and entertainment for small children. They may attempt to imitate an illusionist’s tricks by performing one of their own. Pulling the tablecloth off the table just isn’t as easy as they make it look though.
This little magic trick can cost you hundreds of dollars in broken china. This is even if you manage to get away without a trip to an emergency room for serious cuts or bruises. Keep the tablecloth out of the child’s reach – it just isn’t worth the potential damage that can result.
Don’t allow a small child to be in the kitchen while you are getting lunch or dinner ready. It’s just too easy to become distracted. Furthermore, they may be standing behind you when you turn around, causing an accident that could seriously injure one – or both of you!
If you are trying to screen your kitchen for potential dangers, take a few minutes, or even an hour, to view the room from a pint-sized perspective. Get down on your hands and knees, and try for a bit to think like a child. Might that electrical outlet look interesting? Cover it up. Want to open the blinds like mommy does every morning? Put these potentially lethal cords up out of your child’s reach.
You may not be able to locate and correct every hazard the first time you look around the kitchen, but stay attuned to your small child when he or she is in the room. If it’s dangerous, it will probably look interesting or appealing, so when he or she starts looking at an object with great interest, be alert to potential dangers. Protect your home –and your child – from these dangers!

Thank God For Children Saying Grace...
A friend of mine who owns a floral shop here locally had an article in her recent newsletter I like to share with you, because it is touching!
Thank God for children saying grace...
Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if mom gets ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"
Along with the laughter of the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why I never!"
Hearing this my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."
"Really?" My son asked. "Cross my heart." The man replied. Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."
Naturally I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his Sundae and without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes and my soul is good already."

Thunder Run - Similar To Design by James Hautman
Thunder Run bedding - a design similar to the art work "Band of Thunder" by famous artist James Hautman.
For a few years now we have been barraged with this question: "When is someone going to come out with a bedding design similar to the Band of Thunder bath [that features the artwork of James Hautman]?"
In case you were wondering the same question, the answer is: "They finally have."
Check out the Thunder Run bedding at HorseBedding4Kids.com.
Checking with the manager, they expect "Thunder Run" to sell out quickly based upon the popularity of the bathroom accessories (Band of Thunder).
Have a great time shopping and let the Thunder Roll, er - um, I mean, let the Thunder Run!
